Right next to the star Denebola a small group of galaxies is located which is named Leo Triplet. The galaxies M65 and M66 are very similar to each other and are both of Hubble type Sb. Both are in a distance of about 35 million light years and have been discovered by the french astronomer Pierre Mèchain.
M66, in the lower part of the image is also known as NGC 3627. It has a diameter of about 100,000 light years and thus it is about as big our Milkyway.
