Description: |
NGC 1491 is an emission nebula found in the constellation of Perseus. It is located in a distance of about 11,000 light years. Stellar winds of a blue star of the spectral class O5 is ionizing the nebula. With it's strong stellar winds it is causing an open loop structure, a kind of bubble which is opened at his eastern edge. This is comparable to the Bubble Nebula NGC 7635. The gas density is decreasing towards the edges due to the shock waves caused by material casted out by the young star. |
