Description: |
In the constellation of the Southern Crown , close to the northern edge of the Corona Australis these cosmic clouds of dust are located. In a distance of 500 light years they are blocking the light of stars residering behind them. Close to the center a group of reflection nebulas is located, known as NGC 6726, 6727, 6729 and IC 4812. The smaller yellowish nebula NGC6729 is encasing the young variable star R Coronae Australis. Subjacent smaller loops and arcs can be seen known as Herbig-Haro objects. These objects are coming into beeing with the help of energy-rich young stars nearby. To the right the amazing globular cluster NGC6723 can be noticed. Even though NGC6723 appears to be part of the ensemble his very old stars are in reality more than 30,000 light years away, therefore way beyond the youg stars of the dust clouds of Corona Australis. |
