Messier 45 is perhaps the most prominent open cluster of the night skies. It can be seen with the naked eye alredy. Also known as „The Seven Sisters“ the Pleiades is one of the brightest and closest open clusters. More than 3000 stars are forming this cluster. The distance of this object is about 400 light years while its diameter is about 13 light years only. The brightest stars are surrounded by eye-catching bluish reflection nebulae. Brown dwarfs have been discovered in this cluster. |
